William the Bloody
Name: Spike Original canon: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Age: Looks somewhere between 20-40. Exact age unknown. Race: Moroi Physical description: Average height. Blue eyes. Pale skin. Thin. Wiry. Muscular and athletic. Square-jaw. Handsome features behind a rough exterior. Brown hair bleached blinding white. Likes eye-liner and black clothes. Never far from his leather duster or his combat boots. Chain smokes. Y-shaped scar above his left eye. Smug smirks. High cheekbones. Razorblade smiles. Chipped black nail polish. Earth That Was, late 1970s reject. Big Bad. William the Bloody. Watch out kiddies, Daddy's come out to play. Job: Professional thief. Muscle for hire. Into a little bit of everything. Working for the good of humanity on his off days. Wealth: As long as he's got cash for smokes and beer, Spike's doing alright. Living Situation: Spike lives in an abandoned warehouse in Siam. Neglected and dank, it's not exactly home sweet home, but it suites him just dandy. He lives alone, unless someone's crashing, and that's always against his very vocal protest. Unless, of course, they've got the credits to cover rent. He's not running a bloody Halfway House, you know.
These are the lies my parents told me...
William Pratt was born on Miranda, in one of the nicer penthouse apartments of New Tokyo, a family of old money and status. The man he believed to be his father died from an unknown alien virus six months before William came into the world, and it wasn’t until after his birth that anyone learned of his mother, Anne’s indiscretions. At her mother’s urging, Anne never told William what happened between her and the mysterious Moroi who fathered him, and she successfully hid his mixed origins from him until his early twenties. After her husband’s death and her son’s birth, Anne became withdrawn and sickly, doting on and smothering her only child with affection. From a young age, William became his mother’s caregiver and companion, both of them developing a mutually co-dependant relationship. William was shy and gentlemanly, an outcast in every sense, a sensitive poet when poetry had long since gone out of vogue. He became infatuated with a young, beautiful debutant named Cecily, but she refused his advances, claiming him to be beneath her. A devastated William wandered accidentally into the dark and mean streets of Siam where he bumped into the beautiful and exotic Moroi named Drusilla. Drusilla revealed to him his true origins, promising to release him from mediocrity, saving him from a life were his true potential would remain hidden and weakened. While not all Moroi are evil, Drusilla and her sire Angelus were the worth or the bunch, leaving behind a blood trail wherever they went, evading authorities at every turn. Moroi are not immortal, but all the things that had been seen as weakness as a child; his anemia, sensitivity toward sunlight, and his sense of otherness were all characteristics of his mixed blood. Wanting a life where he could be powerful, feared, and respected for once, William agreed to join them. In her son’s absence, William’s mother went quite mad without her son there to look after her, and when he returned, she rejected him outright, ranting wildly about his obsession with her and how he had sucked away everything good that she once had. Not wanting to see his mother in such a state and believing her to be suffering, Spike killed Anne, an act with scarred him for the rest of his life. Quickly, William reinvented himself, adopting a new pattern of speech, a new attitude, and a new name. Spike was the polar opposite of William. Confident and smug, wild and antagonistic, biting and sharp tongued, Spike developed a bloodlust and a lust for mayhem which was unmatched throughout the galaxy. He was seen as too unwieldy and headstrong, even to his own kind, who saw him as a danger and liability to his own race. He would create quite a name for himself, known throughout the inner circles as William the Bloody, and it is reported that in his heyday, Spike killed an unknown number of innocent citizens. He and Drusilla, eventually devoted and passionate lovers, became two of the most notorious outlaws in the star system. He became most obsessed with hunting the hunters, taking out the peacekeepers and people put in place to keep his race in check. However, being of mixed origins, Spike always possessed a number of notably human traits, and it is because of these that his beloved Drusilla ultimately left him. It wasn’t until recently that William Pratt was captured, but not by the Miranda Peacekeeper Force. Spike was taken by a covert government faction to an undisclosed facility where he was outfitted with an experimental behavioral control device. He escaped, and the agency collapsed, taking all who would know how to remove the devise along with it. It is, essentially, a very sophisticated shock collar, and he is now unable to harm any human being physically. A very controversial device, it does not protect creatures of other humanoid races, the Indivar most notably. Set loose on the world, Spike is not a changed man, but only a very bad dog on a very effective leash. He has been making his living as a sort of criminal for hire, getting his kicks from random acts of violence and petty thievery. He chooses his targets indiscriminately, but has lately been working for the ‘good guys’ more and more. The pay’s alright, and he gets a kick out of being the hero. He’s saved a few damsels, protected a few babies, insured the safety of the people, and still has time to pick pockets on the side. If there is any shady dealings happening in the star system, it’s a safe bet that Spike’s knee deep in it. It’s not likely he was in on the planning, but you can be sure he’ll jump in head first, just for a spot of fun. And maybe, just maybe, he does it all for love.
A Fool for Love.
Spike is full of contradictions. Wild and impulsive, he plays by his own rules, answers to no one, is easily bored and stuck fast in the present. While he has a difficult time planning for the future, he’s intuitive and perceptive, often insightful about people and love and sees the truth behind things when others do not. He’s blunt and sharp witted, some of the old poet and intellectual still alive and well in him. He has a caustic and dry sense of humor, always quick with sly insults and curt assessments. He has a very raw and deep lust for violence, one that is seemingly never satisfied. It isn’t about the outcome of the fight, but the thrill and rush of letting out aggressions and exerting his power. Spike doesn’t fight to win, he fights to get off. He’s got a short attention span, and doesn’t like to stick to plans. He goes with his gut, even if that gets him into trouble. Trouble’s half the fun, isn’t it? Spike shows an amazing capacity for love and loyalty, and at times can be surprisingly honorable and noble. There are few, but the people he has fixated on, he will protect with his life, and many of the things he does are motivated by love. His weakness for romance and companionship often get him into trouble, and from one moment to the next, Spike always seems to be tormented by some lost love or rejection. He is obsessive, and even dangerous when it comes to matters of the heart, irrational and single-minded in his devotion.
